We're live blogging the Rising Stars Game. For a full roster for Team World and Team USA, here you go.
10:34 p.m. — I'm extremely amused by this play for no good reason at all.
10:22 p.m. — Bogdan Bodganovic has himself 23 points and seven threes through three quarters. Please vote him MVP. He's truly a delight!
10:08 p.m. — JOEL EMBIID PLEASE DON'T HURT YOURSELF (but also good move)
10:00 p.m. — At halftime, Jaylen Brown leads all scorers while Team World leads Team USA 78-59. An international shame on you, United States!
9:32 p.m. — Teammate on teammate violence!
9:24 p.m. —Bogdan Bogdanovic pulled up from Inglewood!
9:15 p.m. — I SEE YOU DONOVAN MITCHELL
9:08 p.m. — What are the odds that Joel Embiid plays more than, like, six minutes? He's in the All-Star Game and we know how injury prone he is. Don't make this man do anything that he doesn't need to do.
9:07 p.m. —Dillon Brooks is not American? (He's Canadian, apparently.)
9:05 p.m. — Look, just so we're clear: this will be a very bad basketball game. Players will try on defense for about two minutes — that might be an exaggeration — before they start jogging back on defense. It won't be great. But hey, we'll see dunks!
NBA All-Star Weekend 2018 is finally upon us, and it gets started with the NBA Rising Stars Challenge in Los Angeles at Staples Center. Formerly known as the Rookies vs. Sophomores Game, the Rising Stars Challenge pits the best young talent from the USA against the best young talent internationally in a fun All-Star showcase for rookies and second-year players. The game can be seen on TNT at 9 p.m. ET (live stream).
This year's edition of the Rising Stars Challenge should be fun as the Team USA roster will be led by outstanding rookies Donovan Mitchell, Kyle Kuzma, Dennis Smith Jr., Jayson Tatum, and John Collins.
Team USA will also have second-year studs in Brandon Ingram and Jaylen Brown, who are both having great seasons for their respective teams.
However, Team World has a stacked roster led by first-time NBA All-Star Joel Embiid, rookies Ben Simmons, Lauri Markkanen, and second-year players Jamal Murray and Dario Saric.
In last year's contest, Team World defeated Team USA, 150-141, thanks to then-rookie Jamal Murray, who had 36 points and 11 assists and was named the game's MVP.
- Time: 9 p.m. ET
- Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, Calif.
- TV: TNT

Ball was one of three Lakers selected to represent Team USA in the Rising Stars Challenge, along with rookie Kyle Kuzma and second-year forward Brandon Ingram. Should Ball miss out this year, the Lakers will be well represented regardless.
Still, it's disappointing to think the No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks won't be participants in the Rising Stars Challenge, especially with the latter showing signs of All-Star potential in his rookie campaign.
On the season, Ball is averaging 10.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. His shooting from the field (35.6 percent) still leaves much to be desired, but he was showing a spike in production prior to suffering an injury to his left MCL. In December, Ball was shooting 42.2 percent from the field and 37.7 from long range on 5.3 attempts per game.
