Watch former Gamecock PJ Dozier score in his NBA debut - The State

It took until late in the Oklahoma City Thunder's 106-81 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night for former South Carolina basketball star P.J. Dozier to make his NBA debut.

But it didn't take long for him to net his first points.

News broke just before the late-night game he was active. He got in with 2:12 left in the game, and 33 seconds later scored on a driving layup.

He later added a defensive rebound and missed a long 2-point jumper. It was a game in which Thunder star Russell Westbrook did not play.

Dozier had been averaging 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals in the G-League.

Dozier, a McDonald's All-American from Spring Valley High School, played two years with the Gamecocks. He was a crucial part of the USC's first Final Four team ever and decided to try his luck in the NBA Draft after that run.

In his final season at South Carolina, the 6-foot-6 guard was scoring (13.9 points per game) and assists (2.8 per game) and third in minutes (28.7).

He went undrafted and has spent this season with the Thunder's G-League team.
