Dennis Rodman pleaded guilty Monday to two misdemeanor charges stemming from a January arrest and was sentenced to three years of informal probation, according to online court records.
Rodman, who was arrested in Newport Beach, Calif., for driving under the influence, also must complete a nine-month alcohol education program and pay a $390 fine, according to the records.
"The court made the right call," Rodman's attorney, Paul S. Meyer, said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports and other media outlets. "In issuing the sentence, the court recognized Dennis' intensive inpatient rehabilitation and his commitment to treatment. Dennis has accepted responsibility for his sobriety and has made great progress."

Rodman previously had been arrested for DUI in 1999 and 2003. He was also sentenced to three years probation in 2017 after driving the wrong way on a freeway and giving false information to a police officer.
The 56-year-old former NBA player, who won five titles in his career, was arrested Jan. 13 and agreed to a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit. Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, subsequently confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that Rodman has been struggling with alcoholism. Rodman checked into a rehabilitation facility in New Jersey four days later.
More recently, Rodman has been in the news due to his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who offered to meet with president Donald Trump. Rodman praised the two leaders for agreeing to speak, and his agent told USA TODAY Sports that the ex-NBA star would "love to" accompany Trump to North Korea, if he is asked to do so.
