How to Watch MLS in Week 5, TV and Streaming Listings - Sounder At Heart

Author's Note: MLS Live will be replaced by a new service called ESPN+ this spring. Until ESPN+ rolls out, MLS Live is free for everyone on MLSSoccer.com or via your preferred streaming platform (I use a Roku box and it works great). Details on registering here.

Three Big Storylines:

  1. El Trafico! Whatever name we settle on for the new Los Angeles rivalry, it will be a big deal in MLS. Personally I like the El Trafico moniker to replace the El Classico name that signified Chivas USA (RIP) versus the LA Galaxy. LAFC have started the season strong with away wins in Seattle 1-0 and a 5-1 drubbing against Real Salt Lake. Now manager Bob Bradley will take their strong early start into Carson where the Galaxy are 1-1-1 on the season but have just added Zlatan Ibrahimovic into the mix. Zlatan arrived in LA on Thursday night but insisted that he will be available on Saturday.
  2. Sacha Kljestan was traded in the off season from New York Red Bulls to Orlando City SC and as just so happens those teams play the newly minted Kljestan derby today. This will be Orlando's fourth game played to start the season, as of now they have only earned one point. The Red Bulls will be excused if they play a weakened lineup with the CONCACAF Champions League semi-final first leg at Chivas Guadalajara looming on Wednesday.
  3. The Portland Timbers travel to the midwest to play the winless Chicago Fire (3 PM, MLS Live). The Timbers only have one point from three played and reigning MLS MVP Diego Valeri has zero goals and zero assists and is seemingly spending vast stretches of the game wondering what happened to Darlington Nagbe (traded to Atlanta United). The Fire gave up four goals to Sporting KC in their only home game and two goals in Minnesota for their two losses. If there is any team for Valeri to get back on track against, this current Fire defense looks like just what the doctor ordered.

From a Sounders Point of View:

The Sounders U17 academy team has spent the week in Dallas for the Generation Adidas Cup. They have made it to the final today of the Premier Division and will play the New York Red Bulls. The 3:30 kickoff will be streamed live on YouTube, information below. This will be a good warm up for the 7 PM kickoff for the Seattle Sounders against the Montreal Impact.
