As the 2018 Major League Soccer season gets set to kick off,  we surveyed the USA TODAY Sports team of soccer writers for their predictions on how the new season will shake out.

Which players will define the season? Which non-playoff teams from last year will rise into the postseason field this season? And, can anybody knock off Toronto FC, which is coming off arguably the greatest season in league history?
