Orchard Park, N.Y. -- After trading Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns for a third-round pick last week, the Buffalo Bills are in need of a quarterback.
With NFL free agency set to open this week, Nathan Peterman is the only quarterback on the Bills' roster. While the organization still has faith in Peterman, the Bills will likely turn to free agency and the NFL Draft to bolster the depth chart at the position.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Bills are interested Sam Bradford and Case Keenum, two free-agent quarterbacks of the Minnesota Vikings. Both would make sense for the Bills depending on the cost.
After throwing for 3,800 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2016, Bradford started off 2017 strong. He threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings' season opener before leaving the team's Week 2 game with a knee injury. He didn't start another game the rest of the year.
Instead, Minnesota turned to Keenum, who threw for 3,500 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game. Bradford and Keenum should both come at a decent price tag. But with the Bills short on options and not likely to be in play for Kirk Cousins, Bradford and Keenum are logical fits, particularly when it comes to the scheme.
The Bills and other NFL teams are allowed to begin negotiating with agents of free agents beginning Monday but can't officially come to terms until 4 p.m on Wednesday.
