CLEVELAND, Ohio -- If you're a Cavaliers fan across the miles without a cable subscription or a friend kind enough to share their password, you'll soon be able to watch portions of games already in progress for cheap.
As an experiment, the NBA recently started selling streams on its app and website that enables fans to watch the fourth quarter of select games for 99 cents. Starting next season, portions of all NBA League Pass (out of market) games will be available to stream for a reduced price on the NBA app, NBA.com and Bleacher Report Live, Turner's new sports streaming service launching in April.
"This offering is a new and exciting way for fans to experience live NBA action," said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in a release. "Turner Sports shares our commitment to innovation and to making our games even more accessible."
Pricing and options for these so-called "micro transactions" are still being worked out. So, it's possible viewers will have choices such as how much of a game they want to watch or which quarter.
Also not clear: whether or not in-market games will be available to stream.
Currently, it costs $6.99 to live stream single games on NBA League Pass.
