Kyrie Irving is again helping LeBron James reach the NBA Finals.
The path at least looks clear for James and the Cavaliers after it was learned Irving will miss the rest of this season and the playoffs, ESPN reported Thursday.
Irving, who orchestrated his exit from James and Cleveland last offseason, recently had left knee surgery that previously had been believed to sideline the star point guard for the remainder of the regular season. His timeline has been pushed back, and the worst Boston fears have come true.
The rest of the Celtics are the No. 2 seed in the East, with the regular-season dynamo that is the Raptors atop the conference. The Cavs, as always, lurk, currently tied with Philadelphia at No. 3.
