The game lasts for 90 minutes but the rest of the week is filled with MLS news. In this MLS Multiplex version of VAR, we review all the news and VAR related incidents of the past week in MLS. Plenty of teams are making bold moves off the field as MLS is constantly moving forward. Usage of VAR however sometimes brings the game to a standstill.
Here we have three major off the ball observations from Matchweek six.
We start with No. 3.
3. #SAVETHECREW
While not confirmed, it is not hard to imagine Crew fans who only attend away games. Why give money to Precourt and Co. after all?
In a battle of teams either supposedly or apparently in need of better support and financial metrics, the Crew had plenty of traveling support in Chicago. While the current owners and league lackeys continue to move the goal post, Garber and Precourt may be forced to open the books to the courts. It seems that is the only option unless Precourt is willing to open negotiations in good faith with the Columbus parties interested in ways to #SaveTheCrew.
Columbus Partnership CEO Alex Fischer now has two well-monied parties interested in purchasing the Crew and keeping them in Columbus where they belong. Several downtown locations for a new stadium location have been deemed suitable, as well as the fact that City and State's Attorney Offices have thrown their weight behing the #SaveTheCrew movement. Time to open the books, or fold the bluff, for Precourt and Garber.
We talk more VAR at No. 2. Click on over.
