Richie Incognito is a mess and finished with NFL (probably) - New York Post

The controversial career of Richie Incognito is over, he thinks.

Shortly after telling The MMQB he's contemplating retirement, the 34-year-old took the pronouncement a step further.

"I'm done. That's it. It's been a long career," Incognito told the Buffalo News on Tuesday morning, before indicating he's battling health issues. "Went to the doctor. My liver and kidneys are shutting down. The stress is killing me. It's just about doing what's right. I just want to be in the Hall of Fame."

Shortly afterward, Incognito tweeted to the NFL players' association, "I'm done."

Earlier, The MMQB reported he was still in talks with Buffalo about his contract and has until Sunday to change his mind — read differently, the Bills have until Sunday to offer him enough money to stay.

If this is indeed it for Incognito, it has been an odd 11-year career. The 2005 third-round pick forever will be known as the Bullygate villain, who allegedly harassed Dolphins teammate Jonathan Martin in 2013 until Martin quit the game. Nasty Incognito messages were dug up, and he was suspended from the team.

Incognito sat out the 2014 season and then returned to Buffalo, where he has been a stout offensive line presence since. His play throughout his career has been hailed and reviled, as he was voted the league's second dirtiest player in 2012 — which he wore as a badge of honor.
