It was only a matter of time before Drake got into a fight with an NBA player - SB Nation

Drake got into a shouting match with the Cavaliers' Kendrick Perkins twice while sitting courtside at the Raptors' game Tuesday night. It had people on the internet all riled up, and for good reason — DRAKE? In a fight with KENDRICK PERKINS?!

Here's Drake jawing at Perkins (who also has the nickname Swamp Thang, according to Basketball Reference. Who knew?):

The kerfuffle continued after the game. You can't really hear what Perkins says as he's being pushed back into the tunnel, but we can hear Drake saying he doesn't "play that shit" and he "never said that."

Perkins texted ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski (because who else is getting the Drake/Perkins scoop besides Woj?) and said, "What happened was I was talking to my old teammate Serge (Ibaka) walking into halftime telling him 'We about to win this game,' and Drake butted in talking shit to me. So I said something back to him."

Bruce Arthur of the Toronto Star provided some more details:

Whether or not the above tweet is true: Drake has no business fighting Perkins. The size difference is incredible between the two. Perkins is an NBA athlete. Drake is a musician who works out every now and then. He. Does. Not. Want. That. Problem.

But I mean, it was only a matter of time before Drake got into some kind of NBA beef, right? He's been the ultimate celebrity NBA fan. He was an ambassador for the Raptors at one point, announced starting lineups, provided color commentary, stole a postgame interview with Kyle Lowry, claimed to be Fred VanVleet, has been used as a prop in a dunk contest, was denied access to the Miami Heat locker room (only to celebrate with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade later), compared his friend Chubbs to Draymond Green, said Golden State was running practice at his house, has been Steph Curry with the shot, etc.

Drake's also played instigator before — on Justin Holiday during a game in March 2016 by talking to him during an inbounds pass. It resulted in a five-second call and Drake getting pumped up in his Gushers-green colored jacket.

He's "tried" it with John Wall and the Wizards before, but Drake also knows better than to make an enemy with a superstar. That was clearly fun and games.

The only way Drake could have completed his circle of ultimate NBA fan was have beef with a player. It's hilarious that it's Perkins, one of the clumsiest players in recent memory (arguably even more so than JaVale McGee). But we'll ignore the logistics of this whole thing because he keeps providing us with good music.

Now, Drake can add value to this "beef" with a line about Perkins in his upcoming album this summer called Scorpion. Because "God's Plan" and "Nice for What" totally needed a complementary Perkins diss bar somewhere in the album.

Not really. But it will be hilarious if it happens.
