Mark Ingram "vigorously challenged" his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances but his appeal was denied, the NFL said in a statement Wednesday.
He's not the only prominent player who will sit out the first few regular-season games.

Ingram was suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances. The Pro Bowl running back challenged the ruling, but his appeal was denied, according to the league. The Saints will be without him until Week 5.

The standout Panthers linebacker, who plans to make 2018 his final season, announced on his Twitter account that that he would miss the first four games of the season after violating the NFL policy on PEDs.

The Bengals' linebacker, who was been suspended for his play on the field, will sit out the first four games this season for PEDs.
It's the third consecutive season in which he'll miss the opener because of suspension. In 2017, he faced a three-game ban for a hit on a defenseless player; in 2016, he missed three games because of multiple violations of player-safety rules.

The former Falcons cornerback and LSU standout will serve his fourth suspension of his career. He was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2017 season for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs and was suspended for four more games following his return to the team, ultimately leading to the Falcons waiving him.
