Back in August, NBA MVP candidate James Harden and Nene of the Rockets helped make the announcement at Parker High, but didn't name an opponent.

On Thursday, BBVA Compass, along with former Alabama and Houston Rockets forward Robert Horry, a seven-time NBA champion, announced Thursday at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame that the Rockets will face the Grizzlies.

"I basically grew up in Alabama, so to be here and be part of this announcement for the city of Birmingham was special for me," said Horry, who is from Andalusia, at the press conference.

"I've teamed up with BBVA Compass many times, and every time I do, it's for something that is going to improve the places they call home. This is no different. I'm ready to see some high-quality basketball action at the BJCC."

Called the BBVA Compass Iron City Showdown, this will be the first NBA game in Birmingham in more than a decade. In 2006, Orlando played Atlanta at BJCC.

The Grizzlies finished the 2017-18 season with a 22-60 record while the Rockets posted the NBA's best regular-season record at 65-17.

Houston tied 1-1 with Utah in the Western Conference semifinals of the NBA playoffs. Game 3 is Friday in Salt Lake City.
