NFL analyst lists pair of SEC quarterbacks as top prospects for 2019 draft - SECcountry.com

A lot of talking during the offseason regarding SEC quarterbacks has been surrounding Georgia's Jake Fromm and the battle between Tua Tagovailoa at Alabama, but NFL scouts are taking a closer look at two other signal callers in the league: Auburn's Jarrett Stidham and Missouri's Drew Lock.

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks has the two players listed as part of the top five prospects to watch out for in 2018 and going into the 2019 NFL Draft, describing why professional teams will hope to have a chance to see these quarterbacks in person.

For Stidham, who will be a junior and in his second season as the starting quarterback at Auburn this season, Brooks compliments his ability to make any pass.

"He's a classic drop-back passer with outstanding size, strength, and arm talent. Stidham is a deep-ball specialist adept at throwing "shots" off play-action. As a vertical passer, he shows excellent range, anticipation and touch connecting with receivers on posts, switches and go routes down the field. Stidham is also effective firing darts to receivers on seams and slants between the numbers."

Stidham threw for 3,158 and 18 touchdowns in 2017 in a balanced offense for the Tigers.

Lock, who Brooks writes "could vault to the top of the charts as the No. 1 player at the position," led all of FBS in touchdown passes last season 44. His arm strength is one of the many qualities that scouts will love about his game.

"Lock is a pinpoint passer with the kind of A-plus arm talent coaches covet in a QB1. He can rifle the ball to every area of the field with zip, velocity or touch. He also displays outstanding timing and anticipation."

With the quality of quarterback play in the SEC right now, it seems like two years ago, when the position was a weakness for the conference, was a much longer time ago.
