NFL rookie camps are underway for 22 teams this weekend, meaning a number of former Hokies are getting their first taste of professional football.
Four of the five Virginia Tech players who were picked in the draft signed prior to rookie mini-camps, with Terrell Edmunds being the one who hasn't.
Terms weren't disclosed for Bills linebacker TremaineEdmunds, though his draft slot commands a $12.7 million salary over four years and a $7.3 million signing bonus.
The Bills are training Edmunds as though he'll be their middle linebacker this fall, having him learn all the calls. People are starting to take notice that he's a rather large linebacker:
Fifth-rounder Tim Settle and seventh-rounder Greg Stroman both signed with the Redskins. Settle will make $2.728 million with a $268,041 bonus. Stroman's contract is worth $2.535 million over four years with a $75,776 bonus. Fifth-rounder Wyatt Teller's deal with the Bills for $2.714 million and a $254,123 signing bonus. All those salary figures are contingent on them making the roster.
Settle and Stroman were high school teammates at Stonewall Jackson, college teammates at Virginia Tech and now pro teammates at Washington, a rare trifecta. Here that is in story form and here they are talking about it after a recent practice:
Terrell Edmunds is already showing off his versatility, taking some safety and linebacker snaps during his first day of practice.

-- And here's Mike Tomlin talking a little bit about Edmunds. (If you can't tell, the Steelers are on top of this social media thing):
