Year after year, the expectations that are placed on each NFL rookie by their team's respective fanbases are truly something to behold. Regardless of the situation they enter and how they fit on the roster, each rookie drafted is expected to take the league by storm, put up huge numbers, and make off with the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award going away. These prognostications, of course, are merely the product of football's offseason, where there is little to do except imagine a team's upcoming glories. However, as there is no offseason for the bookies, Las Vegas oddsmakers have been hard at work setting the odds that each rookie will be the NFL OROTY for the 2018 season.
Recently, Bovada released their odds for Offensive Rookie of the Year, placing a premium on running backs and players that went off the board early in the NFL Draft. Although many of the players with the highest odds are top draft picks, it should be noted that the prestige of being a top draft pick has not translated into OROTY honors in recent years. The past two seasons, quarterback Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys and running back Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints, both mid-round draft picks, claimed the award after being on almost no bettor's radars in the month of May.
